KACHINA DOLL

Katsina (or Kachina) dolls are small, wooden representations of the supernatural deities that control aspects of the natural world (such as rain) and act as messengers between the human and spirit worlds. A pair of vertical lines under the eyes symbolizes a warrior’s footprints, white represents east or northeast, and black represents Nadir (the underworld) or down.
